How do you express your feelings? Maybe you write them down or express your feelings through music or art. How do you keep in touch with your friends? On the phone, hanging out at each other's houses, or over instant messaging? How do you express your feelings and stay in touch with your friends at the same time? Well, duh! You blog!
Gals are blogging their hearts out all over the world! According to a USA Today report, over eight million teens blog. And the trend is growing everyday as more and more Web sites are created to cater to your blogging needs. Back in the day, all you could do was simply write a few paragraphs and dress them up with some smiley faces (that must have been when we were all cavewomen). Now blogging has become so chic, you can post pictures, movie clips, and your fave songs.
What is blogging? Blogging can be a great outlet for your everyday bragging and dragging. Whether you had a great day or a day you wished you could forget, you can express everything within a couple of keystrokes. Instead of having to call all 27 of your absolute BEST friends and relaying your biggest news to them, just blog it up and everyone's in the know.
Whenever you're dealing with the Internet, you always have to be careful and take some precautions.
Some Web sites allow you to keep your personal page private. This way, you can filter who can see your innermost bloggings. On other Web sites, anyone and their grandmother can see your page.
Before you set up shop at the first blog Web site you see, do your research. First decide whether or not you want to restrict who sees your page. Then check out the sites that could cater to your needs. Some weblogs will want you to pay a subscription fee. There are plenty of FREE weblogs, so check those out first.
Whether your blog is public or not, never post any information that is too personal. This includes your last name, your address, and where you go to school and work. You don't want someone you don't know very well to be able to obtain personal info about you.
Your parents weren't born yesterday. They know how to use the Internet, too. Gasp! So don't post anything that you wouldn't want your dad reading.
And remember, don't post anything that could hurt someone. You could really hurt someone's feelings by posting something mean about them.
The right reasons for keeping a blog are to express yourself and have fun!
