Flavor curious?
What flavor is your personality?
No doubt you've heard that the lines on your palm, your birth date, and the order in which you pick through a set of tarot cards can each reveal your destiny. Believers in astrology and numerology will defend their predictive choices to the end. Well, now courtesy of Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, we learn that the flavor ice cream you choose as your favorite can give clues to your personality... as well as offer insights into your romantic compatibility. Imagine if the "coolest" place to find your perfect match is in your supermarket freezer aisle! Welcome to the wild, wacky world of flavorology.
The study collected a representative sample of 60 subjects and gave them a series of psychological tests. Although they found that some personality types gravitate toward a particular flavor, they couldn't explain why. The doctor in charge of this study insists that his results have scientific validity. We believe you should consider them with the same seriousness you give to the day's horoscope... a not- to- be- taken- too- seriously fun way to get the inside scoop on friends and family.
Next time you're standing in front of the ice cream freezer, consider what it means if you choose:
Vanilla- Vanilla mavens are anything but vanilla. They are impulsive risk takers and set high goals for themselves. They rely more on intuition than logic and are extremely close with their families. They go for other vanilla lovers.
Chocolate- Chocoholics tend to be creative and dramatic and gravitate toward being named the life of the party. Watch out though, they get bored easily. Chocolate lovers match well with those who favor butter pecan and mint chip. Those who go for double chocolate chunk tend to be seductive, well dressed, intuitive and enjoy intimate relationships.
Strawberry- Those who love this flavor are usually thoughtful, self-critical and detail oriented. They like to stay behind the scenes and out of the limelight. A bit shy, they tend to follow more easily than they lead. When they commit to a relationship (they like those who favor chocolate chip ice cream), they are loyal and supportive.
Chocolate chip- These generous, accomplished folks are go-getters and intolerant of defeat. Visionaries and conquerors, many become industry leaders. These are the guys voted most likely to succeed.
Mint chocolate chip- These are ambitious, confident, stubborn realists who fall for others who share their flavor preference.
Butter pecan- These are a parents' dream...devoted, conscientious, respectful and fiscally conservative. They have high standards of right and wrong and show integrity in all their actions. Butter pecan lovers are compatible with other butter pecan lovers as well as those who love chocolate and chocolate chip.
Coffee- Coffee fans are dramatic and flirtatious, passionate and overcommitted. Because they thrive on exciting ventures, sometimes they tend to start new projects before finishing old ones. They match up well with strawberry lovers.
Rocky Road- These guys tend to be charming in social situations and aggressive in business. They respond better to encouragement than criticism (who doesn't?).
Banana cream pie- The most flattering personality profile of all...the perfect partner, parent or child! We're sure that the fact that this happens to be the favorite of the neurologist who ran the study is purely coincidental!
